Film Response 2
The second film, La Raza de Colorado, focused on the Chicano Civil Rights movement of the 1960’s, also called El Movimiento. By embracing both their American and Mexican heritage, they began to fight for their rights that had been infringed upon. They successfully boycotted grapes and were able to unionize. The Chicano population then were able to pursue higher education. Through these pursuits they were able to mobilize themselves as a community and overcome the adversities they had faced.
Film Response 1
After viewing The La Raza de Colorado video, it is our responsibility with this client project to accurately represent the Chicano culture and acknowledge the adversity and hard ships the community has faced. The film highlighted the discrimination and displacement and political forces that the Chicano population faced in Denver and the surrounding areas.
